Event Details

Stories have the power to foster connection, provide healing, and show the truth. Storytelling and active listening allows us to understand each other's experiences, motivations, and actions. The power of accepting our own story as it truly is allows us to rest in that truth without expending energy, keeping up appearances, or fighting the truth. Listening and accepting others' stories allows us to tap into our empathy and reach across divides to work together from a more human place. Connecting through vulnerable storytelling in appropriate contexts holds limitless power in helping us reach our goals for good: untapped partnerships, growth, and collaboration. What story have you told about yourself or others that hold you back? What about one that has created connection and opened doors? How do we tell the story of why we do the work we do and care about the causes we champion? Examples will be provided

I began my work within my first non-profit at 10 years old at North Country RIDE. I went on to start my first fundraiser at 16 years old, and convinced my college to pay my work study to the non-profit so I could do outreach and community development. I've since worked in powersports product development; as a wedding and event designer and planner; in commercial insurance; as a business owner offering somatic informed embodiment portraiture, documentary storytelling, underwater fine art work of Lake Superior; and finally, have returned to my non-profit development roots. I have jumped in Lake Superior at least once a month for over two years and gone through an incredible amount of loss over the last 10 years. What I know now is that our stories and relationships are what keep us afloat and focused on our purpose. I now work to help others understand the power authentic presence holds to save us and maybe even the world, across my day job and through my business.
